Smoke Myself To Death
03:09

Stephanie, what you do to my knees
You make em’ shake. You make em’ weak
You make me aching for your
Loving, Stephanie
How do you do what you do to me?
I just can’t believe it so I
Sing a song in your ear
All night long, don’t you go.
Don’t go far. Just stay near
My sweet Stephanie
(Chorus)
I’ve done my share of foolish things before
(But you promised me again)
Though I’m young at heart, I won’t depart
(From the words that you have said)
Some of my friends are going to choose not to smoke
And I’m thinking maybe I’ll quit (You won’t quit)
But if you don’t, baby, it won’t be long, baby
Till I smoke another cigarette
And I hope to remind you on the coast of North Carolina
Was the sound of the sea, I found me kissing
You, Stephanie
How do you do what you do to me?
I just can’t believe it so I
Sing a song in your ear
All night long, don’t you go.
Don’t go far. Just stay near
My sweet Stephanie
(Chorus)

Who Knew
02:37

I knew her back when
We had mutual friends
She was occupied
And I often lied
(Chorus)
Who knew
There was something there, who knew
I had so much fun with you
She was standing there
Hair gold and bright
How could you do
What you did that night
(Chorus)
You can take this time
You can add it up
You can call it whatever you want
I call it love
It was always there, it’s true
I still had so much fun
With you

Thought About
04:20

I thought about the country
And the cities we’ve been through
But mostly all I think about
Is coming on home to you.
I thought about Pittsburgh and that run-down old bar
I thought about the winter nearly crashing into cars
I thought about Nashville and the hospitali-tai
I thought about Kentucky and the bourbon in the rye
I thought about Denver where it’s hard not to stay high
We headed on to San Fran leaving my luggage behind
Our buddy, he was driving, he got thrown in jail that night
It’s easy though, believe me, not to do everything right
So we drove on to I-day-ho
It’s a gorgeous place to go
We went swimming for a minute in a river next to the road
We sped on up a mountain, to make it to the show
Jackson Hole, Wyoming, filled with the richest people
We don’t even know
Chapter two:
Thought about Lincoln, Nebraska, and that wide open sky
And the drive on up to Portland that seemed to crawl on by
Folks they kept on dancing, to this unknown rock and roll
Put a smile on my face and a spark up in my soul
We headed to Nevada, but the van, she broke on down
We put up in a hotel in a podunk Cali town
Charlie had a bottle, better believe we drank it down
We found some grass to pass the time until we headed out
We blazed a trail to Kansas but the weather wasn’t right
Somebody that nobody knew, they put us up that night
The floor it was disgusting. The kitchen was a sight
But I learned how to not toss and turn by sleeping there upright
I thought about this country, and the cities we’ve been through
But mostly all I think about Is coming on home to you
We found some grass to pass the time until we headed out . . .

Hey, everybody
I do believe it’s time
That I could be somebody
You can call on anytime
What’s been going on?
What the hell are we living for?
Could you be somebody you ain’t never been before?
(Chorus)
It’s a long hard road
Either make it or you don’t
Either want it or you won’t
Hey, little sister
Ease your mind
Take it on down to the river
One last time
Call on me, brother
I do believe it’s time
To take it on down to the river
Before the river runs dry
(Chorus x2)
Hey, everybody
I do believe it’s time
To take it on down to the river
One last time
(Chorus x2)
